JOB SUMMARY
The Home Health and Hospice Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and maintain scheduling for Memorial Healthcare Home Health and Hospice clients and staff. Employee strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and adheres to established Memorial Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Creates and maintains staff schedules for nursing, patient care technicians, and all therapies.
- Communicates with staff to schedule for sick leave, vacation, long term leave.
- Schedules client appointments / visits according to care plans and staff availability.
- Enters scheduling data, creates schedules.
- Contacts care providers and clients regarding day-to-day changes.
- Enters staff and clients information into database.
- Maintains staff reports.
- Responsible for obtaining initial insurance precertification / authorization for treatment and documents in the electronic chart both the authorization and any pertinent information.
- Performs general office duties including but not limited to word processing, photocopies, faxing, scanning, files, shreds, sort / distributes mail and incoming faxes, provides reception and telephone services.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate -compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
1. High School diploma / GED required.
2. Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
3. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
EXPERIENCE / QUALITIES
1. Prior scheduling experience preferred.
2. Computer skills including but not limited to; MS Office, MS Excel and Google Work Space Scheduling program.
3. Basic medical terminology preferred.
4. Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
5. Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
6. Must be detail oriented.
7. Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
