Job Summary and Qualifications
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to assist with patient registration procedures, pre-authorizations for treatment, and patient scheduling for the Therapy Services. Interview patients for all pertinent account information. Verify insurance coverage by phone and obtain pre-certification/authorization. Obtain proper authorization for treatment and approval codes from the insurance carrier for patients presenting for therapy. Coordinate patient information with referring and internal physicians. Check for physician orders and attaches them to the patient medical records to ensure that patients are receiving appropriate therapy. Activate all pre-registered patients that have reported for services. Work with finance and registration in order to explain policies regarding services, charges, insurance billing, and payment of account. Schedule patient visits for OP therapy services. Schedule patients and assures all information is up to date and accurate in the EMR, and work the work ques to assure timely scheduling. Obtains all required patient information and medical information required prior to appointment. Conducts department phone communication. Assist in other areas of the therapy services as needed.
What qualifications you will need:
- Three years of relevant experience is required
- Management experience is preferred
- Medical coding and billing experienced is preferred
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, computer or clinical related science preferred.
- Previous experience and/or training in billing/collections and customer service. Written and verbal communication, basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding. Ability to adapt to change. Computer and calculator experience. Use of copier and multi-line telephone and fax. Excellent telephone communication skills. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to deal with constant change; must have the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and stress.
