What are the responsibilities and job description for the Breast Imaging Care Navigator - Radiology - Days - FT - Biloxi Location position at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport?
- Assist in the maintenance of the tracking, monitoring, goals and objectives for the Mammography Quality Control, Quality Assurance Program, medical tracking, and auditing as set forth per the FDA, MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act), ACR (American College of Radiology) and all associated regulatory standards
- Monthly, generates annual reminder letters for patients whose annual mammograms are due within one month
- Ensures the annual mammograms are at least 366 days apart
- Maintain the process for management of patient communications and notifications as per the FDA requirements
- Complete all data input information as needed for accurate MQSA requirements
- Batch reminder and result letters that print daily and take to mail room to send out
- Maintains a continuous workflow and documentation on all abnormal breast imaging exams i.e., BIRADS 3, 4, 5, 0 as required
- Verify each patient’s results and reminder letters print daily
- Verify results have the correct Birads, if corrections are needed, message the radiologist to make corrections. Follow up to verify corrections are completed
- Patients with result letters having Birad 4 or 5 must be noted in the Suspicious Logbook and the Provider notified via phone or message sent in Cerner. The Birads results will be followed up and tracked to make sure biopsies are done
- Provides a continuous process for patient outside image coordination
- Obtain the status of previous images. If prior mammograms were done outside of our system, images must be tracked down and appropriate releases sent
- Proficiency in PACS system to process outside images for the radiologist to do the required comparisons
- Must be proficient in all 3 ways of uploading outside CD’s PACS, Nuance and Vertex. Mammograms must be oriented correctly in PACS for comparison
- Ensures all outside images are obtained within 30 days or move the present study TO BE READ status
- Participates in Patient Access Responsibilities
- Interviews patients for daily exams, have patient sign needed documents, take payments as need for exam
- Register patients and verify insurance for upcoming appointment. Check to make sure orders are correct. Call or message in Cerner to get orders corrected and follow up on them
- Performs daily cash report accurately
- Schedule / reschedule patients as needed
- Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction
- Greets visitors and patients, ascertains nature of their business in a courteous, respectful manner
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviors
- Understands and ensures compliance of HIPPA and Privacy Law standards
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Contributes to the daily operations of the department by performing other roles as needed
