JOB SUMMARY
-
The Polysomnography (PSG) Technologist provides quality sleep services and treatment to patients, adjusting approach to meet the specific needs of assigned patients. Responsible for calibration and quality control of diagnostic sleep equipment. Assures that reports are accurate and ready for interpretation by a physician in a timely manner. Scores polysomnographic recordings accurately and records pertinent technical notes to aid reading physicians in diagnosis of sleep disorders. Participates in performance improvement activities as requested in an effort to continually improve the quality of services offered.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
-
High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of AMA approved School for Respiratory Therapy. Completion of AMA approved school for Polysomnagraphy. Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered or Certified Therapist. Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists and permitted by the State of Wyoming as required.

Job Knowledge and Skills:-
Ability to perform all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and services offered by the Cardiopulmonary Department. Current BLS, and ACLS Certification. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Demonstrates abilities to manage work processes, collaborates as a team member, manages time, provides skills with work organization, and has the ability to contribute to work processes related to the professional aspects of Sleep Therapy. The PSG Tech will be able to provide clinical excellence, teach patients and others, professionally demonstrates abilities in conduct and commitment, and participate in evidence based practices, research advances in Sleep Therapy and participate in quality improvements and outcomes. Communication and collaboration skills with physicians and other staff is required. PSG must be able to display critical and creative thinking and problem solving. PSG will be self-motivated and directed. The PSG will promote a professional image within the hospital and the larger community. Computer skills are essential including knowledge of electronic records, basic word processing and ability to use hospital systems as provided. Ability to use and operate medical and office equipment is essential. RT’s are accountable to have the knowledge of patient safety and quality processes. Knowledge of patient and confidentiality standards. Certification requirements for BLS and ACLS or within one year of employment.
