Position Summary
The DIO is a dynamic physician-executive and educator who is responsible for the success of all existing and future graduate medical education (GME) programs. The DIO has oversight and executive management responsibility for the ACGME-accredited Sponsoring Institution, accredited residency program, and related support programs. The DIO is responsible for resident supervision, resident responsibilities, resident evaluation, compliance with duty-hour standards, and resident participation in patient safety and quality of care education. This is a full-time onsite leadership role with option for up to 20% clinical time and 20% protected time for scholarship.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Education: MD or DO degree, with a Masters degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in management, Public Health, and/or Leadership.
- Minimum Experience: MD/DO with GME experience in medical education administration/educational leadership positions and teaching resident and fellows. Experience in a GME leadership position is required; previous experience as a DIO or associate DIO is highly desirable. Five (5) years of recent management experience in an undergraduate or graduate medical education setting, including but not limited to service as a DIO, residency/fellowship program director, academic department chair or similar.
- License/Certification: Board certified by a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, or equivalent credentials. Licensed to practice medicine within their current state or practice or the state of Georgia, and the ability to obtain a medical license within the state of Georgia
