What are the responsibilities and job description for the ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST position at Memorial Regional Health?
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
o Demonstrates advanced knowledge in sonographic procedures including, but not limited to OB/GYN,
ABD, Pedi, MSK, RVT/RT.
o Performs QC in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
o Able to operate equipment consistent with manufacturer’s recommendations.
o Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
o Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation when required.
o Answers the telephone, directs calls, and accurately records messages as needed.
o Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
o Completes equipment downtime form and immediately notifies manager of equipment issues.
o Demonstrates a professional and caring attitude.
o Flexible in rearranging work schedule to help fill in for emergencies, illnesses and vacations.
o Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
o Notifies Radiologist of all STAT or Emergent cases and provides ordering physician contact information.
o Obtains appropriate informed consents when required.
o Performs and documents medical history as it relates to the patient and the procedure.
o Positive and supportive team member to all staff members of the hospital.
o Responsible for ordering, stocking and maintaining supply inventory.
o Submits all written orders, registration documents and required imaging forms to Health Information
Management and the Radiologist.
o Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls service engineer if the malfunction needs
outside maintenance.
o Verifies exam orders, identifies patient thru two means of identification, and provides exam education.
o Verifies that all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are available before submitting
procedures to the Radiologist for interpretation.
o Works overtime as directed and takes call as required.
o Performs other duties as assigned.
o May be required to obtain additional training or certification in order to meet the needs of the department.
o Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities or locations when required and within the scope of held
licensure and/or registry.
o Assists with taking call, working holidays and weekends.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)
o Must be able to legally work in the United States
o Must be able to pass a background check
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable)
o Must complete employee health meeting
Education/Licensure/Certification:
o ARDMS or ARRT registration in Sonography.
o Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days)
Experience:
o Prior experience as a practicing Ultrasound Technologist preferred.
o Technologist will be encouraged to cross-train to into other modalities including, but not limited to CT,
MRI, DEXA, and Mammography.
o Effective communication.
o General knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
o Ability to learn and work with all electronic records including PACS and RIS/HIS.
Position Classification: Non-exempt
Compensation Range: $35.03 to $52.55
