Fleet Technician 2 will perform technician maintenance/repair work on Division vehicles and heavy equipment in shop and/or field. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Construct, modify and/or alter equipment/vehicles to meet specific Division needs. Make service calls; determine type and nature of breakdown and repair in field, if possible.
Perform minor welding and cutting. Check in new equipment; road or field test equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and city inspections on equipment/vehicles. Order, receive and pick up parts; maintain stock on truck. Prepare daily time sheets and work tickets. Adhere to all safety rules and practices. Keep abreast of technical advances in the maintenance/repair of transportation equipment/vehicles. Operate Division vehicle/radio. Perform other duties as directed.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.
EDUCATION
Associate degree in Automotive Technology or a related field and High School Diploma/GED OR Successfully completion of the MLGW Fleet Technician 1
Apprenticeship Program and High School Diploma/GED equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma/GED equivalent and 4 years of experience in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of automotive vehicles, medium-duty trucks, or heavy equipment, OR High School Diploma/GED and 4 ASE certifications from the approved list is required: Automobile and Light Truck (*A1–A9), Medium Heavy Truck (T1–T8), Transit Bus (H1–H8), Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicle (MIL1–MIL8), School Bus (S1–S8).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Must successfully complete Placement/Performance Exercises. Physical Demands: Work inside and outside. Subject to hazards of operating machinery
and irritation from oils, solvents, chemicals and fumes. Make service calls in the field. Subject to climbing, standing/walking for extended periods and working in uncomfortable positions. Requires heavy lifting/carrying up to 100lbs.
