Job Summary
In this role, you will play a critical role in property accounting for one entity of our property management portfolio and executing financial reporting for multiple corporate entities. You will oversee month-end reporting, bank reconciliations, budgeting, and cash management while working closely with property managers and leadership to drive efficiency and maintain accounting best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly and year end financial statements
- Monitor financial performance and key metrics of the real estate portfolio
- Generate detailed reports on income, expenses, and profitability for corporate entities
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Allocate overhead cost to various divisions
- Monthly billback invoicing to “sister' companies
- Invoice and collect lease commission fees
- Manage broker commission payments, ensuring accurate tracking of splits scheduled
Property Management Accounting
- Manage general ledger activities related to properties, including rent revenue and operating expenses
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes for tenant transactions
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts and property-specific accounts
- File and pay transaction privilege tax
- Calculating and paying property owner distributions
- Calculate, charge, and collect management fees
- Perform and review bank reconciliations
- Review Month-End property owner reports
- Creating opening entries for new property accounts
- Assist Property Managers with annual budget and CAM reconciliations
Qualifications
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
● Experience: Minimum of 5 years in property management accounting or a similar field, with experience in corporate entity accounting
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, Appfolio, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
● Knowledge: Strong understanding of budgeting processes, CAM reconciliations, and accounting for multiple entities
● Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identifying discrepancies
● Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with property managers, leadership, and external stakeholders
● Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
