Join Our Team as a Health Education Specialist!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of Black and Latino gay/bisexual men? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Health Education Specialist to support our mission at the SoCal Club! Under the guidance of our SoCal Club Director, you’ll lead educational initiatives, connect with the community, and provide vital prevention and HIV testing services to young men ages 12–29.
Your Role:
As our Health Education Specialist, you’ll be the driving force behind our outreach and education efforts. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Engagement Champion: Collaborate with the SoCal Club Director to create and implement educational strategies that raise awareness of our services among Black and Latino gay/bisexual men aged 16–29.
- Testing Advocate: Work alongside the Clinic Manager to promote HIV testing services, ensuring our community knows where to find us and what we offer.
- Program Facilitator: Deliver clear, impactful programming on sexual health, HIV prevention, and advocacy skills to empower our clients.
- Creative Programmer: Develop engaging monthly activities for clients at the SoCal Club, fostering a sense of community and support.
- Community Leader: Serve as the friendly face of the SoCal Club, promoting a confident, sex-positive approach to healthcare.
- Outreach Dynamo: Participate in community events and meetings to recruit clients, build partnerships, and identify resources.
- Recruitment Innovator: Utilize various strategies—like visiting partner organizations, canvassing, and social media—to connect with potential clients.
- Resource Communicator: Effectively share the Men’s Health Foundation (MHF) services and support participants in their holistic health journeys.
- Team Player: Support MHF Program Managers in achieving recruitment and enrollment goals while tracking client engagement efforts.
- Data Tracker: Document and analyze client recruitment activities to measure our impact and support strategic growth.
What You’ll Bring:
- Personable & Outgoing: A bright personality that engages community members both in person and online.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Two years of experience in direct client services within a non-profit setting or outreach for similar demographics.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational abilities.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual Bonus: Spanish-speaking candidates preferred.
- Driving License: Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License and be willing to drive a company vehicle.
