EVOLVE Program Manager Job Description

PAY SCALE: $67,200 - $84,000 annually.

FTE: 1.0 FTE (40-50 hours per week), exempt.

TITLE: EVOLVE Program Manager

REPORTS TO: EVOLVE Peer Delivered Services Director

DEPARTMENT: EVOLVE Peer Delivered Services

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Manager works collaboratively with EVOLVE Department Director to develop program materials and resources as well as supervises peer support specialists assigned to them. Supports the onboarding process of new peer support specialists. Attends both internal, and external community partner and funder program-specific meetings as assigned by their Department Director. Assists Department Director to ensure EVOLVE activities are in agreement with grant requirements. Assists in preparing reports and other information as required by program contract agreements.

Qualifications for Position:

  • Identifies as having lived experience of addiction and mental health challenges and has received an Oregon Health Authority (OHA) approved Peer Support Specialist/Peer Wellness Specialist Training and Certified Recovery Mentor (CPM) training (depending on lived experience) and is certified in Oregon as a Peer Support Specialist and CRM or able to within 3 months of hire.
  • Prior supervision and program management valued.
  • Understands the effect of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of individual needs. Understands the principles of recovery, consumer-involvement, and trauma-informed care.
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Check: A criminal background check will be conducted by MHAAO in accordance with the MHAAO background check policy. A criminal record does not necessarily exclude an individual from employment with MHAAO.

Pre-Hire Drug Screen: As part of MHAAO's commitment to fostering a safe, productive, and professional workplace, we require pre-hire drug screenings for all potential employees. The screening will be conducted in accordance with MHAAO's drug screening policy, as well as applicable state and federal laws.

Licensure/Certification: Peer Support Specialist or Peer Wellness Specialist (OHA Traditional Health Worker certification) and/or MHACBO CRM certification required upon hire. This position requires at least 2 years of addiction recovery.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of human services/peer support program development and capacity building.
  • Ability to network and collaborate with diverse groups of people who have varied skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret mental health and recovery periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations.
  • Well-developed writing skills including the ability to write for publication, and to create reports, technical assistance guides, and educational and training materials.
  • Ability to respond to questions from other community organizations, consumers, and the general public.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:
May have college/university degree in a related subject or a combination of work experience and related training/education.

  • Must be a good communicator and sensitive to various communication and learning styles.
  • Is comfortable with the shared duties and daily prioritization shifts inherent to a small non-profit environment.
  • Must have lived experience of mental health and addiction recovery.
  • Possesses an absolute belief in every peer’s ability to learn, grow and recover.
  • Possesses insight pertaining to personal biases and worldview and how they may interfere with effectively working with individuals representing a variety of cultural, ethnic, language and life experiences.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises peers support specialists.
  • Responds to and meets with community partners to achieve contract goals.
  • Assists with onboarding and training of new Peer Support Specialist staff.
  • Collaborates with team members on organizational and program goals.
  • Provides 1:1 or group peer support/recovery mentor services as needed.
  • Provides and/or arranges coverage for PSSs as needed (e.g. vacation time and during times of PSS staff turnover).

Amount of Travel:
Regular travel via car.
