JOB SUMMARY :
MHAAO EVOLVE Clackamas HOPE program team will work in conjunction with Clackamas County HOPE Team, Clackamas County Transition Center, Milwaukie and Oregon City Police Departments and Clackamas County Jail to promote a recovery-oriented support system that focuses on hope, choice, personal responsibility, and self-determination. The team will provide Peer Support Services in collaboration with community paramedics and Clackamas Fire Department, local police departments, community based treatment providers and recovery support agencies, corrections and the Transition Center.
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) / Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) will offer support to individuals who have recently experienced an opioid overdose or are at risk of experiencing an opioid overdose resulting in contact with community paramedics and / or Clackamas Fire Department or local police to offer community based recovery support including mental health and / or co-occurring mental health and addiction recovery peer support, assistance with accessing treatment (including Medication Assisted Recovery), and harm reduction as requested and directed by the individual served (the “peer”). The PSS / CRMs will provide support as a person who has similar life experiences and acts as a positive role model. The support services will be holistic, person-directed, trauma-informed and strength-based.
Support will take place in various locations and environments including but not limited to the home, hospitals, courts of law, in-reach to the Clackamas County Jail, the Clackamas Transition Center, syringe exchanges, Safety-Net Walk-In Clinics, and various other Community settings.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.
Background Check : A criminal background check will be conducted by MHAAO in accordance with the MHAAO background check policy. A criminal record does not necessarily exclude an individual from employment with MHAAO.
Pre-Hire Drug Screen : As part of MHAAO's commitment to fostering a safe, productive, and professional workplace, we require pre-hire drug screenings for all potential employees. The screening will be conducted in accordance with MHAAO's drug screening policy, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
Experience : Identifies as having lived experience of addiction and / or co-occurring mental health and addiction recovery. Understands the effect of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of individual needs. Understands the principles of recovery, consumer-involvement and trauma-informed care.

Certification : Oregon Health Authority Peer Support Specialist certification and MHACBO Recovery Mentor certification are required (may be applied for within 1 month of hire). This position requires at least 2 years of addiction recovery as defined by MHACBO.
Valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance required. Have reliable transportation expected.
