We're seeking an accountant to join our Association Properties Group within MHA's fiscal department. The accountant will perform a variety of duties to update and maintain corporate administrative and accounting records.
Duties include preparing monthly financial statements, audit schedules, filing reports with state and federal agencies, maintaining and coordinating online systems, reviewing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy of information and other similar duties primarily to support the administrative and financial systems of the organization.

Essential Position Functions
- Prepare quarterly and monthly financial statements or as requested
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries and schedules for monthly closings and year end audits.
- Process client movements and security deposit balancing for multiple companies.
- Maintain reserve for replacement, purchase journal, cash receipt journal, cash disbursement journal, sales journal, and customer billing records
- Weekly review of A/P, aging, budget, and cut checks to vendors.
- Record and maintain fixed assets and depreciation between accounting & fixed asset software for multiple companies.
- Maintain online systems including but not limited to HUD.
- Annual 1099 & 3ABC reporting for vendors.
- Quarterly sales tax reporting and PILOTs (payment in lieu of taxes).
- Respond to various requests for information
- Perform account analysis and other accounting duties as needed
- Perform special projects as requested by the Vice President of Finance or Fiscal Manager
- Assist with year-end audit preparation including 990, PC, UFR, and statistical information
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of work experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, bookkeeping and accounting cycle procedures, and procedures for Massachusetts non-profit agencies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication and computer skills required.
- Software skills to include Excel, Word, and Blackbaud.
- Must have skills to make and verify computations with accuracy, to compile statistical data and prepare routine reports and to work under time constraints.
- Duties require verbal communication abilities, visual acuity to written and computer screen data, attention to detail and manual coordination and dexterity in the operation of office equipment.
