Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication plans to advance our mission. This role will oversee all marketing and communication activities, including public relations, digital marketing, content creation, branding, and stakeholder engagement. This position will work closely with the executive team to lead the organization's visibility, reputation, and impact.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies aligned with the organization’s mission regarding mental health and to provide support to those affected by it.
- Provide leadership and direction in marketing.
- Collaborate with the executive team to align marketing efforts with organizational priorities.
Brand Management:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the organization's brand identity, be nice., ensuring that all communications reflect the nature of our mission.
- Ensure consistent and effective messaging across all channels and materials.
- Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and assist team members in effectively applying them.
Digital Marketing:
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, including website management, social media, email marketing, and online advertising.
- Analyze digital metrics to optimize campaign performance and report on results.
Content Creation and Management:
- Oversee the creation of compelling and sensitive content for various platforms, including print, web, social media, and video, that resonate with individuals at risk, their families, and the wider community.
- Ensure high-quality, engaging, and relevant content that addresses the complexities of mental health and suicide prevention.
Public Relations and Media Outreach:
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.
- Craft and distribute press releases, media kits, and other public relations materials.
Event Promotion and Management:
- Promote and support the planning and execution of fundraising and awareness events.
- Develop promotional materials and coordinate media coverages with events.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the marketing and communications budget.
- Ensure cost-effective strategies that maximize ROI while maintaining the integrity of the mission.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing and communication strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sensitivity to the subject of mental health, with the ability to communicate compassionately and effectively.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to transport and deliver items to various event locations, and actively participate in the setup and teardown of events.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some travel, mostly local, is occasionally required.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work schedule, following the remote work policy.
