MHP is hiring a part time Family Peer Specialist. This person supports the Training Education Center (TEC), Allied Family Network (AFN), and Parenting Plus (PP) programs under the guidance of the Program Manager. The role involves outreach, training, and collaboration with families seeking support through TEC and AFN, as well as partnering with community organizations to enhance the Institute’s reach and promote virtual training sessions nationally

The position will be based out of the main office, located at 833 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19017. The candidate will work 15 hours a week, and will earn a rate of pay of $17-20 / hour based on educational level and experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Outreach & Training : Provide outreach to families and training opportunities for TEC and AFN programs, promoting engagement and participation.
  • Collaboration : Work with community organizations and stakeholders to strategically expand program reach and foster partnerships that support family education and development.
  • Seminar Preparation : Prepare seminar materials, including handouts, participant guides, sign-in sheets, and evaluations.
  • Participant Communication : Send reminders and updates to webinar and seminar participants via text and email.
  • Webinar Support : Assist with live webinars by monitoring Zoom chat, managing waiting rooms, creating breakout rooms, and providing technical support.
  • Content Management : Make small updates to course content, such as adjusting dates and details on Thinkific; assist with content creation research.
  • Administrative Support : Maintain Constant Contact mailing lists, manage sign-up pages and information requests, and update leads and registrations.
  • General Support : Provide proofreading for marketing emails, presentations, and flyers; create certificates and help manage meeting reminders.
  • Attends and testifies at unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Reports any activities that may violate established laws, regulations, policies or procedures. Raises questions about any actions contrary to law or policy taken by another staff member or employee or yourself, and reports the matter to management or to Compliance and / or Human Resources.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP’s mission.

Requirements :

ENTRY LEVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Education : High School Diploma required.
  • Experience : At least 1 year in a healthcare-related field and 1 year in a learning and development department.
  • Proficiency in eLearning systems and virtual adult education.
  • Basic computer skills, including desktop computing, email, electronic health records, and internet research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and Windows OS; experience with Constant Contact preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage budgets, and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
  • Culturally competent with an innovative approach to engaging families.
  • Effective time management, autonomy, and problem-solving skills.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to :

  • Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and be available for flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends and / or work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to travel within the community that may not be handicap accessible : walking and / or drive agency vehicles, depending on the needs of the program. Ability to use public transportation, move around inner-city neighborhoods daily, including in inclement weather, carry computer equipment, and ascend / descend stairs carrying computer equipment.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and / or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Frequent talking and listening. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly and accurately; possible exposure to loud and / or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
