The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a non-profit organization that assists homeless individuals, both adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing and is seeking a Transitional Living Program Coordinator.

JOB FUNCTION :

Under supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Transitional Living Program (TLP) Coordinator provides leadership and oversight to MIRCI's transitional housing programs to develop and / or refine skills to help young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness make a successful transition to self-sufficient living.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES NEEDED :

  • Ability to manage and provide supervision, to include coaching, recruiting, selection, performance evaluation, training, and leadership
  • Knowledge of providing supportive services and assistance to youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Knowledge of crisis interventions
  • Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with clients and other staff members
  • Knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective contact with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to persons served

EXAMPLES OF WORK :

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the agency's transitional housing programs
  • Oversees program activities to ensure alignment with grant requirements, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and reporting obligations
  • Gathers informative data to secure programming partnerships with various organizations, such as non-profits, religious organizations, and community support organizations
  • Supervises program staff by modeling behavior, monitoring and evaluating individual performance, and providing feedback, direction, and training as needed to promote a sense of accountability and to ensure program quality, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Arranges staff development, education, and training activities
  • Oversees program intakes and assessments, and supports program staff in keeping required documentation compliant and update to date.
  • Maintains open line of communication with staff and community partners to ensure participants are receiving optimal services
  • Collaborates with the senior management team to identify and pursue additional funding opportunities, including grants, partnerships, and donor contributions, to support program sustainability and growth
  • Ensures youth home maintenance by overseeing facility upkeep, coordinating repairs, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Master's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field with two years relevant experience or Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field with five years relevant experience
  • Experience with at risk youth preferred
  • NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

    Must have a valid SC driver's license and a good driving record.
