What are the responsibilities and job description for the TLP Residential Counselor - 2nd Shift position at Mental Illness Recovery Center?
JOB FUNCTION:
The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a progressive Non-Profit that assists homeless individuals, adult and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing and is seeking a Housing Support Staff for 2nd shift (M-F, 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm). This position will assist youth housed in MIRCI's transitional and permanent supportive housing programs in developing and/or refining skills to help make a successful transition to self-sufficient living.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences is required
- Two years of experience in the human service field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Knowledge of providing supportive services and assistance to youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Knowledge of crisis interventions.
- Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with clients and other staff members.
- Knowledge of basic health, welfare, and social services provided by other public and private agencies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective contact with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to persons served.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Provides rehabilitative services to clients served and responds to client needs effectively and in a timely manner.
- Assists youth clients with developing housing plans.
- Facilitates daily community meetings and skill-building groups.
- Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with all youth residents.
- Assists and supervises the daily maintenance of the youth residents, as well as the preparation of meals and self-administration of medications and activities to improve social skills/interaction.
- Performs other related duties as required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid SC driver's license and a good driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.22 per hour
Schedule:
2nd Shift: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm M-F
