What are the responsibilities and job description for the TLP Residential Counselor - 3rd Shift position at Mental Illness Recovery Center?
The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a progressive Non-Profit that assists homeless individuals, adult and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing. MIRCI is continuing to improve the opportunities for the Midlands and surrounding areas, homeless and is seeking a TLP Residental Counselor.
FUNCTION:
The TLP Residential Counselor - 3rd Shift will assist youth housed in MIRCI's transitional and permanent supportive housing programs in developing and/or refining skills to help make a successful transition to self-sufficient living. The TLP Residential Counselor - 3rd Shift receives direct supervision from the TLP coordinator. This position will work Sunday-Thursday, 3rd shift 11:30 pm to 7:30 am. This is an awake position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Knowledge of providing supportive services and assistance to youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Knowledge of crisis interventions.
- Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with clients and other staff members.
- Knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective contact with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to persons served.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Provides rehabilitative services to clients served and responds to client needs effectively and promptly.
- Assists youth clients with reaching goals on individualized plans of care.
- Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with all youth residents.
- Assists and supervises the daily maintenance of youth residents, house cleanliness, and self-administration of medications.
- Collects data to help track youth's productivity, areas of growth, and individual needs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences is required.
- 2 years' experience in a human service field is preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid SC driver's license and a good driving record.
