Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in accounting or related field of study; specialized bank finance education and training.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient computer skills; knowledge of standard accounting and financial concepts, practices, and procedures; visual and auditory skills.
Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years’ related experience normally required.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for providing support in all areas of accounting, finance, and taxes for Mercer County State Bancorp, Inc. and subsidiaries; achieving goals as established in the Finance Department’s annual operating plan; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the accounting function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
Essential Duties
1. Provides support in all areas of accounting, finance, and taxes for Mercer County State Bancorp, Inc., and subsidiaries, of which the following are illustrative:
a. Ensures that the Bank's general ledger is maintained properly; takes action to correct accounting-related errors or problems with the accuracy of the general ledger.
b. Prepares adjusting and correcting entries as needed.
c. Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions.
d. Collects financial data and ensures various financial reports are prepared for review by management; prepares reports for external groups, e.g., regulators, etc.
e. Provides assistance in preparing the Bank’s annual budget as requested.
f. Performs other related duties as assigned.
2. Supervises the Accounting Representative to ensure invoices are paid within established timeframes and with appropriate approvals.
3. Prepares regulatory reports, including the Call Report, Summary of Deposits and FR Y series filings. Assists in the preparation of the annual report to shareholders.
4. Monitors Bank cash levels at the Federal Reserve, FHLB and ACBB.
5. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
6. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
7. Achieves goals assigned to the Assistant Controller as part of the Finance Department’s annual operating plan.
8. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
9. Complies with established operating policies and procedures to maintain adequate controls and to support the Bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
10. Communicates with management and staff personnel to integrate goals and activities.
11. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her area, or to requests from other Bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
12. Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,594.00 - $74,000.00 per year
