Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field of study normally required; specialized bank finance education and training.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient financial analysis and accounting skills; proficient PC skills; proficient analytical skills; thorough knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures; demonstrated management and supervisory skills; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years' related experience normally required.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the Accounting Department in order to ensure the proper control of all Bank accounting, finance, and related activities; implementing strategies to achieve goals developed as part of the Bank’s annual operating plan; ensuring the department's compliance with operating policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with appropriate management and staff personnel; providing periodic reports.
Essential Duties
1. Manages the Accounting Department to ensure proper control of all Bank accounting and finance activities by performing various duties of which the following are illustrative:
a. Stays current with knowledge of accounting rules and regulations as promulgated by the FASB and regulatory agencies.
b. Reviews and approves all reports prepared by Accounting staff, i.e., monthly financial reports, Call Report, Summary of Deposits, QCR, FR Y series.
c. Maintains a classification system for new and established general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts which meets the reporting requirements of all regulatory agencies, and which provides adequate operating and financial data to responsibility centers.
d. Monitors the Bank's cash position daily.
e. Assists in the preparation of the annual report to shareholders.
f. Assists in reporting to the asset/liability committee.
g. Provides assistance in tax planning and in compiling information for tax returns.
h. Interacts with internal and external auditors; FDIC, FHLB and state examiners.
i. Coordinates periodic reporting to the United States Census Bureau.
2. Implements strategies to achieve goals assigned to the department as established in the Bank's annual operating plan; assists in the development of the annual budget and adheres to budget parameters.
3. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
4. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements; ensures that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
5. Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:
a. Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate.
b. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel.
c. Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.
d. Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.
e. Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
f. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by Bank policy.

Pay: $76,200.00 - $132,000.00 per year
