We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Boys Tennis Coach to join our team. The Head Boys Tennis Coach is responsible for leading the boys' tennis program and mentoring student-athletes in athletic and personal development. This role requires a passion for tennis and the ability to create a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters growth and success.
Qualifications/Expectations
Applicants should possess experience at playing and coaching on the high school level-junior varsity, varsity, or both, as a minimum. Previous experience in coaching tennis is required. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a 9-passenger van.
The Head Tennis coach creates and sustains a vision that embodies the purpose and the goals of athletics at Mercersburg. The primary focus for every coach at Mercersburg is to provide a transformative experience for every participant in their program, regardless of level of play or area of contribution. The Tennis Program Head Coach is responsible for managing daily operations and other program-related duties. These duties can range from drill instruction and execution to video study and analysis.
Assistant coaches are expected to demonstrate effective teaching skills relative to sport-specific techniques, as well as possess the interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, other coaches, and administrators. Essential responsibilities also include modeling appropriate behavior and following established protocols for injuries.
The head coach manages a highly competitive tennis program that spans two levels of play. The coach is highly active in admission recruiting for the school, works with families on college recruiting opportunities, and engages in clinics, camps, and conferences in the off-season.
Employees at Mercersburg Academy are required to complete the clearance process mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
