Position Overview:
Mercersburg Academy seeks a dynamic and experienced Head Diving Coach to lead our diving program. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in developing divers at all levels, a passion for coaching, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive team culture. This role includes coaching responsibilities and may involve additional duties within the athletics department or residential life, depending on the candidate’s background and school needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the diving program, including training, competition preparation, and skill development.
- Design and implement practice plans that enhance technical skills, strength, and mental preparedness.
- Provide individualized coaching to divers at various skill levels.
- Foster a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
- Recruit and develop student-athletes who align with the mission and values of Mercersburg Academy.
- Collaborate with the Director of Swimming and Diving and other athletic staff to ensure a cohesive and successful aquatics program.
- Support students’ academic and personal development as part of the school community.
- Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with league and school policies.
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
- Strong technical knowledge of diving mechanics and training methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and develop student-athletes.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Mercersburg Academy.
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collegiate or elite-level diving experience.
- Experience working in a boarding school or similar residential setting.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles for divers.
