What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Buyer/Merchandiser position at Merchants Distributors, LLC?
Overview:
The Meat Buyer conducts the buying of meats as assigned with special emphasis on proper inventory levels for turn and ad business.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that products are organized into categories that reflect customer buying needs.
2. Responsible for customers' orders on a daily basis to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
3. Participates in budgeting process, achieves goals as outlined by our Balanced Score Card.
4. Maintains the proper inventory levels while controlling turns at the proper level. Purchases ad merchandise as needed to fill ad orders.
5. Recommends product elimination based on turnover and profitability.
6. Uses reports and screens to gain knowledge of meat needs.
7. Addresses profit losses on assigned items and maintains proper costs of goods.
8. Updates warehouse shrink numbers and reviews slow moving items and aged inventory reports.
9. Establish reliable lines of contact with field management team to ensure stores needs are met.
10. Ability to solve problems with orders in an efficient and timely manner.
11. Work with inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders.
12. All other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of meat and seafood with 2-5 years of management experience. Knowledge of the grocery retail industry as well as category management. Must have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Should possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to travel.
