Overview
Major Functions:
To conduct the buying of both processed and fresh meats as assigned with special emphasis on proper inventory levels and competitive pricing, for retail customers to compete and to achieve gross profit levels necessary for MDI's continued growth and success.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for purchasing both processed and fresh meats as assigned on a timely basis to ensure freshness and inventory control.
- Responsible for customers' orders daily to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
- Work with all Alex Lee companies. Participates in the budgeting process, achieves goals as outlined by our performance management system.
- Maintains the proper inventory levels while controlling turns at the proper level. Purchases ad merchandise as needed to fill ad orders.
- Use analytical skills to acquire aggressive pricing, based on market conditions, to better serve our retail customers.
- Responsible for service level to meet budget objectives and achieve budgeted gross profits with proper management.
- Knowledge of retail operations and of profitable merchandising.
- Must be innovative in the way MDI goes to market, build sales, and achieve profitability. Must be very computer literate.
Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications:
- The incumbent should possess the knowledge and skills generally associated with a bachelor's degree in business or equivalent, plus 3-5 years of progressive experience as a successful Meat Department Manager, Meat Specialist, and/or Meat Department Operations and Buying.
- Should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Should possess full understanding of computerized buying system, and Microsoft Office applications.
