Synopsis
We are currently seeking a Confirmations Analyst for gas, power, and emissions products to work with our various trading groups. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills along with an understanding of the oil and gas industry practices. We are seeking a self-starter who can work independently and within a team environment with exceptional interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time position based in Houston, TX. This individual will be responsible to work with a team to manage daily workflow tasks that includes trading relationship contracts generation of purchase, sale, exchange of gas, power, and emissions transactions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Mercuria’s various trading groups in support of front office and middle office functions.
The position will enable the successful candidate to develop essential and comprehensive business skills to support and enhance their career development.
This position would report to the Confirmations, Margining, Trade Support Manager, for Mercuria Energy America, LLC in Houston, TX.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with use of multiple trade capture systems.
- Coordinate and communicate with traders, mid-office, and other corporate stakeholders to facilitate and finalize trading contracts.
- Handle necessary responses, amendments and/or updates to existing contracts.
- College degree preferred but not required
- One to Three years of experience in contract generation, drafting responses and amendments for gas, power, emissions, and related commodities, both US domestic and international preferred.
- Experience industry-standard terms and conditions, including ISDA agreements for both physical and financial transactions.
- Experience with different pricing platforms such as NYMEX, Argus, Platt’s, ICE, and other price publications.
- Strong understanding of the lifecycle of a Confirmation and the various Confirmation Statuses required to assess the contractual risk associated with unexecuted contracts.
- Systems experience, as that relates to efficient Confirmations Workflow functions and other trade capture systems.
- Familiarity with other industry contracts, both US domestic and international; e.g., brokerage agreements, exchange agreements, and other ancillary documentation.
- Working knowledge of the ICE eConfirm electronic confirmation matching platform.
Non-technical qualifications:
- Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with the team and all levels of trading groups (i.e. levels of management, traders, and employees)
- Proactive, ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to handle complex and highly confidential matters in a mature, professional manner.
- Ability to adhere to internal trading controls and deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have strong research abilities, close attention to detail, and good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Able to understand basic Legal, Credit, Accounting, and Trade Finance concepts and provisions.
