The Finance & HR Director is a full-time equivalent, exempt employee & reports directly to the Executive Director.
The Finance & HR Director is responsible to oversee the financial operations of the Mercy Center for Women (MCW), working closely with the Executive Director & the various Directors across the organization. Key responsibilities include creating & managing the annual budget process, preparing financial statements, effectuating grant management, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This role is critical and requires a proactive approach to financial management with an accompanying commitment to the values and mission of the MCW.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; Master’s Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management
- Deep knowledge of GAAP as applied to nonprofit financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance
- Expert user of QuickBooks functionality
- Ability to be bonded, as necessary
- Strategic thinker, provides financial insights to support the MCW mission & goals
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail & accuracy
- Experience with grant management & reporting
- Strong organizational & time management skills; excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to the mission & values of the MCW
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and lift 20 pounds
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop & manage the annual budget process for the July 1 – June 30 fiscal year
- Prepare & present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Collaborate with MCW Board Treasurer & Finance Committee Chair; prepare for & attend regular Finance Committee meetings
- Collaborate with program Directors to develop & monitor program budgets; identify cost savings opportunities
- Manage the reporting from MCW Investment Managers & financial institutions for the various MCW investments & endowments
- Manage & effectuate all accounts payable & receivable functions
- Manage & effectuate payroll processing & related compliance
- Manage & effectuate new employee onboarding, to include benefit package & necessary compliance information
- Manage & effectuate cash flow & forecasting; monitor & manage financial risk
- Ensure the integrity & accuracy of all financial data
- Manage & effectuate relationships with financial institutions
- Manage & effectuate annual audit process; coordinate with external auditors
- Oversee & effectuate grant management & reporting
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and reporting
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision making, fundraising efforts, and long-term planning
- Remain current with nonprofit financial regulations & best practices
- Attend Board of Directors meetings, as necessary
- Assist Executive Director with Human Resources functions of MCW including:
- Employee recruiting functions
- New hires onboarding & orientation
- Volunteer/staff clearances
- Employee annual review process; terminations; exit interviews; grievances; corrective action plans
- Merit increases
- Maintaining the Employee Handbook & policies
- Onsite resource for Executive Director regarding employee issues
- All other duties as necessary in support of the financial success of the MCW
EXPECTATIONS
- Workday is 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Location: in office
- Attendance & participation at various MCW events, often after hours & weekends
- Additional hours to meet audit, grant, regulatory, etc. deadlines as needed
