About Mercy Center Ministries
Mercy Center Ministries is a community-based, non-denominational nonprofit organization founded in 1983. We provide shelter and supportive services to homeless women who are single, pregnant, and/or parenting, helping them become independent and productive members of society. With three independent living shelter programs, we are dedicated to empowering women and children in Suffolk County.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work (NYS license required)
- 5 years of experience in administration, supervision, and homeless services
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient in computer and Microsoft Office, with a complete criminal background check
Responsibilities
- Directly responsible to the Board, including policy initiation and development, agenda preparation, and attending monthly meetings.
- Implements Board policies and provides financial and program reports.
- Writes quarterly newsletters and manages donor engagement and relations.
- Maintains the agency website and updates the employee manual with Board approval.
- Creates and updates agency and program forms.
- Prepares the annual budget for Board submission.
- Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates administrative staff and Program Directors.
- Conducts staff development initiatives, corrective actions, and investigations.
- Develops and submits grant proposals.
- Provides community education, referral, and participates in networking.
- Recommends and expedites fundraising activities.
- Administers contract programs for safety and compliance.
- Oversees purchases and expenditures within budget limits.
- Represents the organization as its Chief Executive Officer in all contacts.
- Reviews and approves financial transactions and prepares audit materials.
- Collaborates with contract and community agencies to enhance program services.
- Ensures compliance with NYS OTDA regulations and budgeting policies.
