Mercy High School Job Description Job Title: Annual Fund and Planned Giving Manager Reports To: Director of Mission Advancement FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time Date: February 2025 Summary:

Within the context of the tradition and charism of the Sisters of Mercy, supportive of the Mission and Values of Mercy High School and Catholic Church teachings and doctrine, the Annual Fund and Planned Giving Manager reports to the Director of Mission Advancement and is an essential member of the Advancement Team. This position is responsible to develop and implement a comprehensive, metrics-driven annual giving plan, drive long-term donor cultivation and stewardship, grow revenue from various constituencies, and lead targeted fundraising initiatives. The Annual and Planned Giving Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Mission Advancement, the advancement team, and key leadership to coordinate a comprehensive fundraising plan each year providing short-term and long-term vision to this essential development function. This position plans and manages all aspects of the Annual Giving program which is foundational for advancing the school’s mission. The Annual and Planned Giving Manager is a member of the Advancement Team and works directly and collaboratively with members of this team, assisting with events and initiatives as needed, in support of departmental goals.

The Annual and Planned Giving Manager must possess the ability to perform as part of a team and have excellent interpersonal skills; have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of audiences; needs strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines; meet challenges with a sense of humor and a “can do it” attitude.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition, the person should have the following experience and/or education to perform the job successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

Successful candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Minimum of five years of fundraising experience preferably in annual giving, with a proven track record Minimum three years experience in program development Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with donors and colleagues Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills Proficient in database management and experience with fundraising software, preferably Raiser's Edge Knowledge of Catholic Church teachings and doctrines, within the context of the tradition and charism of the Sisters of Mercy That salary range is between $62,000-83,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

School Culture and Mission:

  • Supports the Catholicity of the school by ensuring it is reflected and upheld in fundraisinginitiatives and donor cultivation with the global understanding of the tradition and charism ofthe Sisters of Mercy

Supports and actively participates in mission and DEIB initiatives within the schoolMission Advancement and Marketing: Develop and manage an annual fundraising plan and calendar to achieve measurable goals Develop and manage all aspects of the annual giving program that leverage variouscommunication channels to reach potential and current donors including direct mail, email,phone, and social media campaigns Coordinate with internal stakeholders and team members to develop and execute targetedfundraising initiatives for specific programs and needs in collaboration with the Director ofMission Advancement Maintain donor records and collaborate with the Advancement Services Manager to ensure giftdata is accurate and up-to-date in the database Acknowledge gifts and engage with donors to cultivate long-term relationships and stewardship Draft solicitation, acknowledgment letters, and personalized notes and thank you letters todonors Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the school's funding priorities and goals,to effectively articulate the case for support to donors

Develop and manage the annual giving budget and report regularly on progress towards goals Develop strategies for new donor acquisition Manage and grow a monthly giving program Plan and execute an annual day of giving Manage a Circle of Mercy program, including an annual stewardship reception. Collaborate with the Director of Mission Advancement to identify and cultivate major gift prospects and support stewardship efforts In partnership with the Director of Mission Advancement, develop and manage the Endowment and Planned Giving Program Steward and develop an honorary event to recognize and maintain communication with Planned Giving donors Collaborate with Advancement Team members to work with internal parent groups on the importance of annual giving. Collaborate with Alumnae Relations Manager to sustain and grow support from and connection between alumnae and Mercy High School Collaborate with the Creative Services and Graphic Manager and Marketing Manager to effectively market strategic initiatives and programs within the Annual Fund and Advancement needs of the school

  • Support Making a Difference Benefit including day of event and fundraising planning efforts leading up to the event under the direction of the Director of Mission Advancement

Support Capital Campaign donor outreach and events Provide support and attend Advancement events, inclusive of evening and weekend events Engage in the life of the school by attending campus events as an ambassador for the Advancement program.

  • Responds to the many less tangible needs of donors and the Mission Advancement Department
  • Additional duties that arise and are deemed necessary

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Annual and Planned Giving Manager has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Computer Skills:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Google Suite and comfort in using Raiser's Edge

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the individual is regularly required to talk or hear. The individual is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The individual is occasionally required to lift boxes, stand, stoop or kneel. The individual needs to move from the main school building to lower campus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of the job, the individual is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions while walking from the main building to the lower campus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet with amplified noise coming from the Great Hall throughout the day based on school and operational usage. .

Must also be able to attend occasional meetings in late afternoons, evenings and weekends and support evening Advancement events on weekdays and weekends. Salary is commensurate with experience and education of the applicant.
