Job Summary:
The Housing Solutions Supervisor oversees and motivates a team of 5-8 Housing Solutions Case Managers while managing a small caseload. This role involves conducting needs assessments, creating and implementing housing stability and service plans, and offering support, referrals, and advocacy for residents in the Housing Solutions program. The supervisor fosters positive behavior change, identifies challenges to housing stability, and encourages trauma-informed, client-centered approaches within the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Client/Service Delivery:
- Manage a caseload of 5-7 clients, addressing their needs in alignment with grant requirements.
- Apply harm reduction strategies to provide client-focused services and support housing stability.
- Utilize crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
- Assist residents in identifying their strengths and needs with respect and dignity.
- Conduct apartment inspections to ensure proper maintenance.
- Stay updated on community resources and make relevant referrals.
- Facilitate relationship-building between clients and landlords/caretakers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, including stabilization plans and case notes.
- Complete paperwork promptly to ensure payment from funding sources.
- Support data collection systems as required.
Team Management:
- Supervise 5-7 Housing Solutions Case Managers, encouraging high performance.
- Lead and build team cohesion to align with the agency’s mission and core values.
- Train and mentor new Case Managers, assisting with their daily responsibilities.
- Conduct quarterly quality control of case files to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide guidance and support to Case Managers as needed.
- Organize training sessions and orientations as necessary.
- Hold individual meetings with staff at least once a month and team meetings monthly.
- Conduct 90-day, midyear, and annual performance reviews.
- Approve staff Absence from Work requests and Paycom submissions on time.
- Approve monthly mileage reimbursement requests.
Miscellaneous:
- Assist the Program Manager in coordinating social and recreational activities to promote community involvement and peer support.
- Help the Program Manager connect residents with services such as employment, education, tutoring, and mentoring.
- Attend staff and community meetings as required.
- Participate in relevant training to enhance knowledge in areas such as co-occurring disorders, harm reduction, and cultural competence.
- Stay informed about Adult Rehabilitative, Mental Health Services, and Substance Abuse Treatments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (or a related field) is preferred, with experience in recovery, mental health, or co-occurring disorders.
- Candidates without a BA/BS but with at least 2 years of experience working with long-term homeless, low-income, and diverse populations, and knowledge of mental health and addiction issues, are encouraged to apply.
- High tolerance and understanding of individuals with complex and urgent needs.
- Management experience is a plus.
