Summary
The Instrument Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the working condition of instruments, implants, and sets owned by MMC. They follow and enforce the manufacturer’s instructions for use (IFU) for care and handling of individual instruments, instrument sets, and implant sets. The Instrument Coordinator is accountable for ordering, cost control, delivery follow up, instrument distribution, and maintenance of instrument and set inventory. They maintain the instrument tracking system and ensure that appropriate data entry and change management processes are being followed in order to maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory.
The Instrument Coordinator collaborates with CS and OR leadership for future vendor or loaner set needs. They validate vendor sets/loaner sets for accuracy at the time of delivery and ensure appropriate IFUs and inventory sheets are provided. They review, validate, and oversee the timely and accurate return of vendor/loaned sets following case completion.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- A minimum of three years of experience in a Central Sterile Processing department.
- Graduation from an accredited CSS training program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory Central Sterile position preferred.

- CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) certification required or completed within 1 year of hire date

- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Premier (if applicable to position)
- Epic (if applicable to position)

- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
