Mercy Pharmacy Group is seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Intake Coordinator to manage the intake process for specialty and home infusion pharmacy services. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring seamless patient onboarding, insurance verification, and coordination of pharmacy services, while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Position Highlights
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for:
- Patient Intake Management
- Receiving and processing new patient referrals via phone, fax, or electronic systems.
- Collecting and accurately entering patient demographics, medical history, and medication profiles into the pharmacy’s system.
- Insurance Verification & Prior Authorization
- Verifying patient insurance coverage for prescribed medications and services.
- Initiating and tracking prior authorization requests, expediting responses from payers, and keeping patients informed of status.
- Reviewing prescribed treatment regimens with the pharmacist before submitting authorizations to ensure accuracy.
- Managing denied claims by coordinating appeals, drafting appeal letters based on denial reason, and working with providers to ensure proper documentation.
- Patient Communication & Prescription Coordination
- Acting as the primary liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and internal pharmacy teams.
- Informing patients and caregivers about insurance coverage, co-pays, and financial responsibilities.
- Notifying patients if their prescription is transferred to another specialty pharmacy and verifying receipt with the receiving pharmacy.
- Ensuring pharmacists complete verbal transfer coordination when necessary.
- Manufacturer & Regulatory Compliance
- Performing assessments mandated by manufacturer contracts and facilitating patient enrollment in manufacturer support programs when required.
- Maintaining compliance with HIPAA, payer requirements, and other industry regulations.
- Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Maintaining accurate records of all communications, authorizations, and patient interactions.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and patient experience.
Skills & Abilities Required
- Regulatory Knowledge: Proficiency in insurance processes, prior authorizations, and compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and payers.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and pharmacy software (CPR /CareTend preferred).
- Attention to Detail & Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in patient records.
Education & Experience Required
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in medical administration or healthcare preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in a specialty and home infusion pharmacy intake role.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
