Overview:
A front desk co-worker must greet and check in patients for numerous programs, performing accurate data entry and excellent welcoming patient service.The front desk co-worker is responsible for verifying information is correct in the EMR, verifying orders before arrival, identifying/obtaining precert and collecting point of service payment. This co-worker must create a positive first impression for patients, visitors and family members by providing excellent customer service consistent with the established guidelines and goals of Mercy. This co-worker will also have the responsibility of data entry, charge entry, patient scheduling, answering phone calls, processing faxes, scanning documents and preparing for next day patients.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensure: None.
- Experience: Experience in a medical office setting.
- Certification/Registration: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period.
- Other Skills & Knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities):
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instruction.
- Must demonstrate a friendly and caring attitude with good telephone and communication skills.
- Ability to complete several activities and departmental functions in a timely manner.
- Detail oriented with accuracy and efficiency as top priorities.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Push, Pull up to 10lbs and Grip and Pinch up to 5 lbs.
- Low positions minimal.
- Equipment Used: Computer, multi-line phone system, fax machine, scanner.
