WINE BAR ASSOCIATE
This position is for Friday's 11-5 and Saturday and Sunday 3-9pm, with the possibility of other shifts.
JOB SUMMARY
The Wine Bar is Iris Vineyards window to the public. Wine Bar Associates conduct the tasting and sale of wine and non-wine products while providing an exceptional customer experience to each visitor. This position requires excellent communication skills with management, customers, and other associates as well as the ability to converse easily with many people from diverse backgrounds. Wine Bar associates are also responsible for assisting with special events, including events on weekends, evenings and holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must have two years of experience in food and beverage or customer facing industry & warm and engaging personality.
- Wine related and bartending experience preferred but not a requirement.
- Greet all guests with a warm welcome.
- Responsible for presenting Iris Vineyards wines to guests.
- Responsible for achieving wine sales goals and club membership sign ups.
- Responsible for food preparation in open style kitchen.
- Describe Iris Vineyards story, wines, and vineyard.
- Handle all post of sale in POS and general cash handling.
- Demonstrate fine dining service/etiquette.
- Fulfill duties with precision, finesse, meticulous follow through.
- Understand the steps of service, execute them with efficiency and grace in a high-volume setting.
- Assist with special events as needed.
- Complete opening, closing and side-work.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Perform all other duties assigned by the manager as needed.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have or acquire an OLCC servers license or proof of application.
- Must have or acquire an Oregon Food Handlers license or proof of application.
- Dynamic personality who is hard-working and dedicated. Long-term growth potential.
- Part-time, pay negotiable based on experience.
- Able to lift 45 pounds.
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of the day.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
- Ability to thrive independently and with the team.
- Wine enthusiast and foodie.
- Wine bar or tasting room experience a plus.
- Retail, restaurant or other service experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
- Standing and walking on stone, cement, tile and gravel with daily climbing of stairs.
- Some sitting (padded swivel office chair, car seat.)
- Repetitive use of hands and wrists to open wine bottles, pour wine and operate POS system.
- Lifting/carrying average weight frequently 40 lbs.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Pushing/pulling average weight frequently 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must adhere to all policies and procedures of the company, including safety procedures.
- Exposed to wine production equipment noise, glass bottles and general office noise.
- Visually exposed to computer screens and fluorescent lighting. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, taste and smell.
