The Role
Mergon UK are currently hiring an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Blackburn to provide electrical engineering provisions with the plant, working with a team of Engineers, both Mechanical and Electrical.
Hours of Work: 8.15am – 5.00pm Monday – Fridays, with one early finish at 1pm, one day per week (as agreed).
Key Responsibilities:
- The maintenance of all electrical services, plant, machinery, and equipment.
- To ensure all plant, equipment and machinery meet the requirements of Health & Safety legislation and are maintained in this manner, and keep documentation for audits and H&S requirements.
- To control Portable Appliance Testing at Mergon UK.
- The control and maintenance of the Production Monitoring System.
- The control and maintenance of the electrical energy consumption monitoring system.
- To develop and implement machine improvements.
- To develop and implement control systems for secondary operation machines and equipment.
- Take and active role in automation of production, and process flow improvements.
- Provide electrical breakdown cover outside of normal working hours where it is deemed reasonable.
- To develop and train the Electrical Apprentice and Shift Technicians after they have received suitable external training.

To be successful in this role, you will likely have:
At least 5 years’ experience as a qualified Engineer, previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment an advantage but not essential.
Experience of electrical fault finding and use of PLC’s.
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence others and work as part of a team essential.
Relevant Electrical qualifications.
