Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Revenue Cycle Integrity Manager, the Cash Posting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payments, denials, and adjustments. This role involves accurately posting Explanation of Benefits (EOB) payments from insurance companies, as well as processing patient payments via check or credit card, ensuring all transactions are correctly applied to patient accounts.

Under the general supervision of the Revenue Cycle Integrity Manager, the Cash Posting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payments, denials, and adjustments. This role involves accurately posting Explanation of Benefits (EOB) payments from insurance companies, as well as processing patient payments via check or credit card, ensuring all transactions are correctly applied to patient accounts.
Duties And Responsibilities
The following responsibilities outline the primary functions of this position. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
- Accurately post insurance payments from EOBs, ensuring proper allocation to corresponding line items, and apply adjustments, patient responsibility amounts, and Minnesota Care Tax as required.
- Identify and address underpayments and overpayments from insurance companies.
- Document denied charges for the collections department and communicate reimbursement concerns to Revenue Cycle Managers and/or Claims Analysts.
- Queue claims to secondary insurance providers as needed, including verifying patient insurance eligibility.
- Assist auditors during annual financial audits.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director and/or Managers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet creation and data analysis.
- Experience using email systems, internet applications, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional, courteous working relationships with all Meridian team members.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods with close visual focus.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
- Effective verbal communication and active listening skills for phone-based interactions.
