A Medical Lab Technicians Core Functions at Meridian
· Analytical/Problem Solving Skills – Ability to collect and analyze data and other information, solve problems and make decisions while using clear and logical steps.
· Clinical Laboratory Technology - Working knowledge in areas of laboratory medicine and technology including but not limited to clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, toxicology and molecular biology.
· Quality Assurance Fundamentals – Basic knowledge and understanding of clinical quality assurance and quality control techniques and activities.
· Compliance Monitoring – Ability to monitor performance of self, other individuals and processes by applying knowledge of established performance standards from regulatory agencies as well as by Meridian and understanding regulatory licensure and conditions.
· Customer Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service within the healthcare community. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

A Medical Lab Technicians Expected Responsibilities at Meridian
· Providing information to the Clinical Providers that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
· Operate Laboratory Information System, including accessioning, ordering tests, reporting of sample results, and basic troubleshooting.
· Maintain laboratory supplies by conducting departmental inventory, placing orders when appropriate, and verifying receipt.
· Maintain equipment operation daily by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, & communicating with vendors when repairs are needed.
· Perform advanced maintenance and troubleshooting procedures according to analyzer guidelines and laboratory protocol.
· Document information by maintaining daily logs and maintenance records.
· Perform laboratory tests strictly following the laboratory's established procedures and protocols.
· Enter data from analysis of laboratory tests and clinical results into the LIS.
· Recognize the importance of critical result notification and do so urgently in accordance with the critical result notification policy.
· Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and documenting corrective action steps thoroughly.
· Complete projects by assisting project lead, attending and participating in group and project meetings.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
· Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Maintain a relationship with health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
· Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment supporting senior laboratory and management staff.
· Ability to work independently within an assigned workbench and working with the whole laboratory team in achieving goals and metrics set forth by the Quality Assurance Program of the laboratory.
This is a full-time position and Saturday availability will be required.
Education/Certification:
· Associates degree
· Preferred Certification: MLT, MLS, or specialists in molecular, toxicology, chemistry, or hematology. (ASCP, AMT, AAB)
Preferred Experience:
· One-year equivalent full time in a clinical laboratory.
· Intern/Externships in a clinical laboratory setting.
· Without experience- degree or certification in a related field.
