Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the shipping process, overseeing a team of shipping employees, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, a deep understanding of shipping processes, and a proven ability to lead and motivate a team. The Shipping Supervisor will also play a key role in maintaining a safe and productive work environment, optimizing operations, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of shipments.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee and delegate purchase orders and cycle count lists to the shipping team, ensuring their timely and accurate completion.
• Collaborate with Customer Service to confirm shipping prices and manage cost-effective shipping strategies.
• Maintain and update the shipping schedule to ensure orders are processed efficiently.
• Stagger S.O.s properly and ensure pick lists are completed accurately.
• Conduct a secondary review of shipments, verifying quantities, item numbers, S.O. numbers, and weight.
• Process shipment documentation and inspect completed orders for accuracy.
• Train, supervise, and provide guidance to shipping employees, ensuring their adherence to company standards.
• Project Management.
• Act as a liaison between management, shipping carriers, and customers, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of any issues.
• Collaborate with internal departments to optimize the flow of orders from preparation to shipment.
• Complete daily end-of-shift reports, noting any safety, quality, staffing, or operational concerns, and report as needed to management.
• Monitor employee attendance, provide performance feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Assess carrier performance and resolve any logistics-related issues, ensuring on-time delivery and quality standards.
• Complete the end of shift report daily identifying any safety or quality issues, quantity of inbound and outbound shipments and any housekeeping, staffing or maintenance comments or concerns.
• Ensure compliance with shipping industry regulations and company policies.
• Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse, working closely with staff to ensure product is stored safely and efficiently.
• Ability to drive a forklift.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Five or more years’ experience in the shipping industry.
• One of more years’ experience as a shipping lead, shipping supervisor or shipping manager.
• High School graduate degree or equivalent required.
• Adhesive, Chemical or related manufacturing/production industry experience preferred.
• Proficiency in UPS, Fed Ex and Uber Freight shipping portals.
• In-depth knowledge of logistics and shipping documentation.
• Knowledge of shipping industry regulations.
• Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, detailed and accuracy skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
