Commercial Project Estimator

Job Summary:

Merit Flooring, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our Commercial Department as a Commercial Project Estimator. This role involves assisting with defining project scopes, performing takeoffs, and supporting timely proposal submissions to clients.

While prior experience in estimating or construction is beneficial, it is not required. We are looking for a candidate with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under deadlines. Training will be provided for the right individual who demonstrates a willingness to learn and a problem-solving mindset. We encourage all to apply.

Responsibilities Include:

· Collaborate with project managers to establish a clear scope of work for each commercial project.

· Utilize software such as RFMS Measure to produce precise material and labor estimates.

· Thoroughly examine full sets of project drawings to ensure all aspects are accurately captured in the estimate.

· Manage submission timelines and deliver estimates to clients within the agreed timeframe.

· Perform detailed reviews of takeoff files and prepare comprehensive Excel reports for client presentation.

· Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in takeoffs to maintain the integrity of estimates and ensure a smooth workflow.

· Work closely with the estimation and project management teams to ensure project accuracy and successful delivery.

Requirements:

· Exceptional organizational skills with an unwavering attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

· Comfortable working with various computer programs for reporting and documentation.

Qualifications (Preferred but not required):

· Proven experience in estimating within the construction or commercial flooring industry preferred.

· Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications.

· Familiar with industry-standard takeoff software, such as Plan Swift, On-Screen Takeoff, or RFMS Measure.

· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during the estimation process.

· Experience working in team environments with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

· Up-to-date on construction practices and industry trends, ensuring estimates are competitive and accurate.
