As a specialist in insurance restoration, we excel at working with insurance adjusters, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet the demanding requirements and timelines of recovering from a fire, flood, storm, or other disasters. Our clients are Homeowners, Business owners, and Property Management Companies.
We are looking to add: An experienced Core Claims Project Manager with a minimum of three years of experience to be help manage all aspects of the insurance restoration repair process, from start through completion. With oversight from the Branch Manager, this position is primarily responsible for selling, estimating, and project managing jobs ranging up to $50,000 by performing the core objectives outlined below.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
With oversight from the Branch Manager, this position is primarily responsible for selling, estimating, and project managing jobs ranging up to $50,000 by performing the following duties. Project Managers are responsible for managing all aspects of the repair process, from start through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Visits new assignments/jobs, interfaces with the client, and sells the job.
- Scopes the damages at the site, creates an estimate on a database, and submits it to the insurance company/property management company for approval.
- Coordinates the repairs of the property using our contractors and ensures the project gets completed to the Merit standards.
- Manages deadlines, progress, and quality on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Estimate each loss using a 3rd party estimating software, Xactimate.
- Work closely with insured and interested parties.
- Calls or meets customer to ensure satisfaction and collects payment for work completed.
- Ensure each project achieves a minimum gross profit margin as determined by company standards.
- Communicate any change orders and insurance supplements.
- Assist Accounting Manager as needed (job cost, invoicing, mortgage companies, etc)
- Build and maintain business relationships with insurance adjusters, brokers, and TPA’s.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, requiring evening and weekend point of contact for any new losses, as determined by the rotating schedule
- Client Development
- Be the “face” of our company in the market specific to the unit
- Maintain contact/relationships with key customers
- Seek alliances to improve performance
- Support staff in key client situations and event
- Meet or exceed compliance to Carrier Program SLAs
- Meet or exceed property owner expectations for communication and service

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has supervisory responsibilities; Project Manager will supervise sub-contractors.

- Three years Insurance Restoration experience preferred; commercial a plus.
- Experience in construction, painting and other related restoration services is a plus but not required.
- Prior experience in managing or estimating projects would greatly improve chances for success at Merit Restorations.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Computer skills including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet use (Excel).
- An ability to interpret and understand job work orders.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and the ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the restoration field.
- Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Experienced in Xactimate and other estimating software
**Project Managers are regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- You will be scheduled to work a 40-hour work week; however, overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
- Work environments can vary depending upon the type of loss. Generally, work environments may be dirty, dusty, damp, wet, or smoke filled. Some positions involve trauma/biohazard cleanup. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided in hazardous environments.
- Manual dexterity needed to perform tasks as well as an ability to lift goods (up to 50 pounds) or materials with or without assistance per OSHA guidelines. Lifting, bending, stretching, climbing stairs, crawling are common activities associated with this position. Potential use of scaffolding and use of common tools (e.g., hammers, drills, saws).
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb roofs, which includes being able to carry a 28’ ladder from their truck and setting it up at the roof line of the associated property.
- Use of eye and face protection devices such as masks and respirators common.
- Use of information technology may apply such as use of cell phones, email or labor reporting software.
- Good organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Organizational skills sufficient to prioritize work and complete assignments accurately, either independently or as part of a team, under pressure of competing deadlines and with frequent interruptions, working from own initiative and/or following direction, policies, or procedures. Ability to identify customer needs and maintain and support a customer service philosophy. Ability to use analytical and decision-making skills to offer options and resolve problems in a variety of contexts.
