LEAN Process Improvement Manager
Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly, Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600. No weekends
NOT REMOTE - 100% onsite
The LEAN Process Improvement Manager is responsible for coaching/facilitating improvement projects across the Health System. Meritus utilizes LEAN and other Process Improvement methodologies to drive change including KATA, PDSA, Driver Diagrams, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, 5S, A3, 3P, Visual Management, TWI Job Instruction, amongst others. The KATA methodology is the primary tool used for improvement projects. The PI Manager will facilitate daily coaching sessions for improvement projects meeting with department team members/coaches. Daily coaching consists of supporting the use of proven improvement methodologies with a high focus on achieving results as well as learning. The PI Manager also manages the Meritus Performance Excellence Plan which is the annual operational plan for tracking process improvement system wide. The PI Manager is responsible for training and education for all team members/coach’s in LEAN methodologies and process improvement. The PI Manager supports all other functions of improvement work which includes, but is not limited to, leader rounding, project management, facilitating improvement steering committees, planning improvement events, and trialing special projects. As a change agent, the PI Manager should possess robust facilitation/communication skills, be patient but persistent, have a positive attitude, be approachable and engaging, and have a desire for innovation and achieving outcomes.
Education – Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience – Demonstrated success in the use of LEAN tools/methodologies is required. Demonstrated success in project management and/or process improvement is required. Thorough knowledge and familiarity of healthcare systems and the clinical practice setting is preferred.
Licensure/Certification – Certifications or documentation of completed education/training in LEAN principals/methodology preferred. Six Sigma certifications preferred. Clinical experience in healthcare preferred. License as appropriate for specialty.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – LEAN concepts and methodologies and project management skills. Proven ability to work simultaneously within the bounds of multiple clinical and administrative settings. Demonstrated ability to perform in the areas of project planning and implementation, budgeting, financial reporting, customer relationships, interpersonal skills, computer skills, and data analysis/fluency. Ability to communicate both written and orally. Proven ability in planning, organizing and implementing work priorities. Proven ability to work independently. Ability to work with all levels of employees within the health system including senior administrators and medical staff.
