What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brook Lane Laurel Hall Frederick Intervention Specialist position at Meritus Medical Center Inc?
Provide student care, instruction, and behavioral support in a non-public special education school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing reading skills and instruction
- Provides appropriate reading intervention programs as determined by the students’ needs and IEP
- Provides informal reading assessments
- Participate in and provide input for academic planning
- May complete reading intervention progress summaries under the direction of the teacher, IEP Coordinator and/or Principal
- Prepares materials for implementation of student interventions i.e., copying
- Performs all of the essential functions of a Behavior Specialist or 1:1 when needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree required
- Previous experience with school aged children and autism population preferred
- Physical ability to perform behavior management duties and therapeutic restraints following training course.
- Ability to deal with student aggression and intense behaviors.
- Ability to assist students with activities of daily living
