Media Specialist
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as liaison for classroom device management for electronic curriculum resources or student specific resource services
- Provides in-class structured library media programs
- Coordinates the use of the library media center, resource room, and online databases
- Plans, organizes, and conducts operation of library media center and resource room
- Participate in and provide input for academic planning
- Maintains frequent communication with school staff to promote program presence and school based clubs and activities
- Acts as liaison for any contractual student specific need of service such as OT, Speech, or PT
- Oversees materials and equipment for the library/resource room
- Performs all of the essential functions of a Behavior Specialist or 1:1 when neededBehavior Specialist
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises students during academic periods and non-academic periods, i.e., dining, off-grounds, etc.
- Assists teacher to maintain classroom order
- Helps students with activities of daily living (physical care, eating, etc.)
- Implements behavior management system
- Performs crisis intervention with students exhibiting behavior problems using therapeutic methods
- Provides one on one time with student as needed
- Transports students as needed
Education – High School degree required, associate/bachelor’s degree or comparable experience preferred.
Experience – Experience in evaluating and selecting digital resources and print material to match curriculum content and IEPs. Previous experience with school aged children and autism population preferred.
Licensure/Certification – N/A
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Physical ability to perform behavior management duties and therapeutic restraints following training course. Ability to deal with student aggression and intense behaviors when needed. Ability to assist students with activities of daily living when needed.
