Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank . Merrick operates three main business lines : credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services.
Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management.

Position Summary:
This role will perform a variety of tasks related to Deposit daily new account and Deposit operations activities as well as assist with wire transfer activities. In addition, this role will assist the Deposits team in ensuring operational systems and functions comply with the Bank’s policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Performs daily consumer deposit activities which includes resolving issues involving high risk and high dollar transactions and events.
- Processes daily wire transfers, and management of ACH records.
- Completes functions including account reconciliation, journal entries, and the creation of various deposit-related schedules.
- Utilizes Excel to perform general banking calculations (time value, interest calculations, etc.).
- Ensures maintenance of company and program specific Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) and Policies, including authoring and/or editing of SOPs, working with subject matter expert SOP authors.
- Assists in training new employees.
- Assists in internal and regulatory audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Compliance with Laws & Regulations:
- Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
- Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in an Accounting or Finance related field is required, two years’ experience accepted in lieu of education requirement.
- Three (3) years of banking experience is required.
- Three (3) years’ experience in deposit operations, new account opening and maintenance, and deposit customer service is preferred.
Summary of Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- MS Excel experience would be a plus.
- Knowledge and demonstrative skills of Business Intelligence and Analytic software, such as Cognos would be a plus.
- Knowledge of deposit products and operations.
- Knowledge of Bank laws and regulations such as BSA, Reg. DD, Reg. E, CIP, Consumer Privacy, NACHA, etc.
- A high degree of self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and think critically.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple on-going assignments.
- Excellent attendance record and dependability.
- Positive attitude and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
