What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEP Instructor position at Merrillville Community School Corporation?
JOB GOAL: To provide instruction to students and coordinate the development, implementation, and supervision of the Pierce Middle School Preventive Expulsion Program
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct instruction to 7th and 8th grade students in core subject areas
- Create instructional and behavioral plans for all students who enter the program
- Conduct and arrange program intake meetings with parents and students
- Implement all corporation policies as they relate to the classroom.
- Provide leadership and managerial oversight to the instructional program and school operations to ensure a learning environment that fosters the educational development of each pupil at the alternative program.
- Maintain attendance, academic progress and behavior data and report to appropriate administrators.
- Formulates policies and procedures for new or revised programs or activities such as screening, placement, A education, point system and training of students.
- Evaluates alternative education programs to ensure that objectives for student education are met.
- Interprets expectations, rules, and regulations to students, parents, and staff.
- Prepares reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Administers achievement tests to measure student level of performance.
- Supervises alternative education staff as directed by the Principal
- Aligns program curriculum (PLATO) with day school curriculum.
- Ensure learning programs are specific to the student's expectations and learning style.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with
- students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by building Principal
- Candidate must have a successful interview with the building Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Eligible for State of Indiana Teaching License-Preference in English or Math
- Implement instruction for academically and behaviorally challenged students. Must have excellent intervention skills and strong classroom management skills.
- Proven reliability, good organization skills, and ability to work well with students, parents and staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 2024-2025 school year
