What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEP Aide position at Merrillville Community School Corporation?
SCHEDULE:
7.5 HOURS PER DAY DURING SCHOOL YEAR
QUALIFICATIONS:
COMPLETED AT LEAST 2 YEARS OF STUDY AT AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION, OR OBTAINED AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE OR HIGHER. PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE MET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Post High school work in education or a related field;
(2) Previous work experience in instructional program
documented by letter(s) of reference.
(3) Previous experience as a classroom assistant documented by letter(s) of reference and description of responsibilities.
PREFERENCE GIVEN TO LICENSED TEACHERS OR CANDIDATES WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher with restorative program.
- Work with students in monitoring their behavior and providing behavior support to students
- Serve as a check and connect mentor
- Assist in planning learning experiences for the students.
- Assist in the production of instructional materials and use of technology.
- Assist in implementing classroom routines.
- Assist in instruction-related clerical tasks including scoring of student products, grading, and behavior/academic data collection
- Work with students on activities, while the teacher works with small groups of students.
- Assist with monitoring student learning.
- Tutor students to strengthen skills or concepts under the supervision of the teacher.
- Confer regularly with the classroom teacher about the programs and achievement of each student.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information/data.
- Help with the planning and implementation of after school parent meetings.
- Successful interview with Building Principal
- Perform other related duties as directed by teacher and/or principal.
