Mesa seeks an Engineer for our Power Delivery Substation group with the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

• Possess an understanding of high voltage transmission substation P&C equipment, as well as be willing to learn the Client’s standards and practices.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to substation design.
• Ability to work independently with direction, while not hesitating to ask questions when needed.
• Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with Senior Management, Program Manager, Project Manager, Group Leads, and design staff.
• Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with the Client.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa quality requirements.
• Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
• Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications within the group.
  
  

Education/Experience/Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related, from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in 4kV to 345kV substation P&C design is required.
• Experience in substation P&C design is desirable.
• PE is preferred
• If candidate does not have a PE, EIT status is preferred.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the P&C Group Lead.
• Work with a team to complete substation P&C design projects to meet client standards and practices.
• Maintain good quality and efficiency while developing deliverables such as: One-Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematics, Panel Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Lists, and Bills of Material, utilizing AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Foster strong customer relationships through communications and support.
• Estimate and assist in the preparation of bid packages.
• Attend scoping meetings as requested for projects.
• Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy to provide quality deliverables.
• Mentor other designers/engineers in group to increase knowledge of P&C substation design.
• Check/review other personnel work for accuracy and adherence to client/national standards.
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements. Share updates with team and leads to continually improve communications and quality.
• Promote a strong safety culture within the team and advocate the incorporation of safe work practices into all activities.
• Work with the P&C Group Lead and Program Manager to identify potential areas of engineering process and/or procedure improvements.
