JOB SUMMARY:
The Programs Law Enforcement Specialist (LES) position is located in the Programs office at the Mesa County Detention Facility (County Jail). This position will work directly with Programs Deputies in conjunction with other jail staff as needed. A large majority of job duties will be data entry and clerical duties. This position will include inmate interaction that may be minimal but necessary for this position. The Programs LES may be utilized to assist with Visitations LES duties. This is a non-sworn position.

Job Duties
Completing pre-classification interview research on inmates to include researching prior and current charges, criminal history, and institutional behavior.
Inventory, distribution, and release of inmate property.
Scanning and electronic record keeping of documents into inmate accounts.
Data entry and statistical tracking of jail records.
Data entry of arraignment/court information.
Information research for inmate Classification reviews i.e. bond info, case status, and behavioral documentation.
Maintaining a scheduled calendar of facility Classrooms/interview areas. These areas are reserved for phone conferences, court hearings, disciplinary hearings, administrative meetings, parole hearings, probation hearings, attorney visits, education classes, religious services, other inmate programs, and any additional meetings as needed.
Assist current religious volunteers in maintaining an inmate library.
Respond to inmate kites within duties/responsibilities.
Miscellaneous
Be prepared to testify in court when required to do so.
Operate with minimal supervision.
Assist as a Visitation LES as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job:
Computer experience, knowledge of Microsoft Word desirable, customer service experience, good typing, writing and spelling/grammar skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written, able to work with the public and/or inmates in stressful situations.

Physical Requirements And Working Environment
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends. General work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday-Friday (40 hours per week) but are subject to change due to agency needs.
The employee may be exposed to contagious diseases and other serious health conditions of inmates or inmate visitors.
The employee may be exposed to volatile and\or unpredictable behavior of inmates or inmate visitors.
The employee may come in contact with members of the general public who are upset or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The employee may be exposed to inmates or inmate visitors who are unclean and/or not fully dressed.
