What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician - EMERGENCY SERVICES - PRN (As Needed) position at Mesa View Regional?
The Patient Care Tech performs routine duties within the limits of documented training for the emergency department and other patient care areas as needed. The care is rendered under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse. He/she facilitates the information and activity flow to and from the nursing unit. He/she will also assist to answer phones, take messages, make phone calls, fax orders, etc. He/She will also be competent to monitor telemetry and report cardiac rhythm changes to the nursing staff for further investigation when indicated. These include direct patient care, performing phlebotomy procedures, EKG/ECG procedures, safety and infection control, and the professional responsibilities of a patient care technician. PCTs are responsible for making sure each patient's room is clean, well-organized, and fully supplied with everything the patient and doctors need for quality care. He/she will have good customer service, computer and organizational skills. All other duties as assigned that are within the scope of practice.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent
Experience: Previous EMT experience preferred. Previous hospital work strongly desired.
Licneses/Certificates: BLS required. IV course certification required, may obtain onsite. Telemetry Tech Training required within 6 months of hire.
**Pay range: $16 - $19.30 (depending on experience)**
