Position Description
Position Summary
The School of Graduate Studies at Messiah University invites applications for a full time term-tenure track faculty position in the Graduate Program in Counseling, School Counseling specialty area. The Messiah University graduate program in counseling has three well-established CACREP accredited Master’s degrees which are delivered primarily online. Faculty in the program prioritize collegiality while striving to be excellent teachers and scholars who love working with and mentoring students. This position will be located at the Winding Hill (Mechanicsburg, PA) site or may be fully remote.
Responsibilities
Teach core counseling graduate courses, courses in the school counseling track, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, primarily in an online format. Specific teaching assignments will be determined based upon program need and the candidate’s expertise and interests. Faculty members are also expected to supervise internships, maintain a scholarly agenda, actively participate in the counseling profession through clinical work or counseling organizations, teach on-campus intensive courses, advise graduate students, and engage in institutional service.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Counselor Education necessary, preferably from a CACREP accredited program. ABD considered. Training and/or experience in school counseling, online education and clinical supervision required. Candidates should be eligible for core-faculty status per CACREP standards and hold a professional counseling license. Candidates are required to profess Christian faith, to commit to the mission of Messiah University, and to exhibit evidence of intercultural competencies. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship, have more than 3 years of experience in the school counseling field, and have previously taught in an online format. Candidates with expertise and interest in elementary school counseling, trauma, and multicultural issues are also preferred.

The Department
The Graduate Program in Counseling offers three CACREP accredited master’s degrees with tracks in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Couple & Family Counseling; and School Counseling. The mission of the program is to educate invested and caring individuals who will serve in a variety of settings as counselors characterized by integrity, humility, skillfulness, and understanding. We desire that these professionals will be leaders who facilitate healing, growth, reconciliation and spiritual well-being for diverse peoples.
