Job Description:
The Painter/Blaster position involves removing oxidation, scale, paint or other undesirable surface finishes from structural steel using a media blast system.
This role requires utilizing equipment to ensure proper functionality and monitoring blast media usage while interacting with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
Prior experience in industrial paint work is preferred, as well as knowledge of blast equipment, blast media and blast profiles.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation for blasting - Mask surfaces that do not need to be blasted.
- Handling product in and out of the blast booth, via crane, fork truck and/or pallet jack.
- Mixing paint according to specs, determining flow, viscosity, and coating quality.
- Using thickness gauges, measuring instruments, and maintaining paint records.
- Completing blasting and/or painting in a timely manner with limited supervision.
- Maintaining equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Monitoring blast media usage and re-order levels.
- Interacting with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- Proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Working within the scope of MWI's safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years' industrial paint work experience
- Knowledge of blast equipment, blast media and blast profiles
- Ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to lift moderate to heavy pieces.
- Able to bend and twist body in various positions.
- Able to wear protective equipment while working.
