Job Description
Land Planning Firm actively seeking new Land Planners to join our thriving team.
Our Planner role is a position for an individual with specialized training in Land Planning or a related field. One to three years of prior land planning experience is preferred. The Planner will assist in a wide variety of activities associated with land planning, designing, platting, and research & analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with research and data collection for use in design and planning process.
· May work directly with Senior Planner to manage the entitlement processes, including, but not limited to: preparation and submittal of preliminary, final and recordation plats, Development Agreements, and zoning documents.
· Participate in the land/site development and planning process.
· Aid in preparing schedules and managing the review/approval process for various land planning projects.
· Prepare base maps and Opportunities & Constraints exhibits.
· Prepare exhibits for clients to present design.
· Prepare exhibits for clients and municipalities to aid in the entitlement and submittal process.
· Prepare preliminary plats and box exhibits.
· Work with GIS and/or AutoCAD to make revisions to land plans and plats and/or to gather data, as needed.
· Regular communication and coordination with clients on active and/or future projects.
· Some travel may be required to deliver plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings.
· May be required to attend after-hours meetings on occasion for Planning and Zoning Commission and/or City Council meetings for project approvals.
· Work within defined project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
· Other duties of a similar nature and level may be assigned as necessary to meet business needs
Job Qualifications:
Required:
· Excellent research, problem solving, time management, written & verbal communication, and organizational skills.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of zoning regulations and approval processes.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of how to prepare subdivision plats.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of subdivision plat approval processes.
· A basic working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
· Be comfortable working within a team environment, as well as being productive independently with limited supervision.
· Take initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team in a fast paced and detail-oriented office environment.
Preferred:
· Experienced in making presentations at public meetings.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of the final plat process.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of the plat recordation process.
· Have an understanding and general knowledge of the Major Thoroughfare Plan amendment process.
· Have experience in the entitlement drafting and approval process.
· Experience in reviewing plans for compliance with applicable jurisdictional regulations.
· Experience with client coordination and communication.
· A basic working knowledge of Arc GIS.
· A strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Design/Planning, Architecture or similar is preferred. Degree can be substituted by equivalent transferrable experience in land planning, entitlements, and/or land development industry. One to three years of experience in a similar field is preferred.
